The Type 10 is Japan's modern main battle tank: light (~44 t) and agile, with a hydropneumatic active suspension and a network-centric C4I datalink that lets tanks share a common picture — built for the defense of Japan's terrain.

The Type 10's edge is mobility and networking rather than mass: a hydropneumatic suspension that lets it crouch, lean and adjust ride height, plus the C4I (10-gō) datalink for fleet data sharing that older tanks lack. Lighter than Western MBTs to suit Japanese bridges and roads, it trades some base armor; against the heaviest MBTs and top-attack threats it relies on agility and situational awareness.
