Built atop the S-400, this strategic layer is designed to engage ballistic missiles, hypersonic threats, and low-orbit satellites. Only one regiment has been in service since 2021; full operational maturity remains limited.

The S-500's advertised range, ceiling, and satellite-intercept capabilities are largely Russian-sourced and remain independently UNVERIFIED. Only ~1 regiment has been in service since 2021; full operational maturity and mass-production scale are limited. The first regiment entered combat duty on 17 December 2025; the 2021 delivery was an operational-test (pilot) unit. CSIS still marks the system as 'under development'.
