The MiG-31 Foxhound is a heavy interceptor built on speed and range: at Mach 2.83 it is the fastest serial-production combat aircraft, and with its Zaslon PESA radar and ~300 km R-37M missile it strikes targets before they even enter range. Built not to dogfight but to cover vast areas at high altitude/speed; the MiG-31K version air-launches the Kinzhal hypersonic missile.
