China's second fifth-generation stealth fighter after the J-20; a tailless, twin-engine medium multirole platform that AVIC markets as a 'low-cost alternative' to the F-35. It made its public flight debut at the 2024 Zhuhai Airshow and entered PLAAF service in September 2025.

Derived from the FC-31 demonstrator, resembling the F-35 in shape and role but positioned at lower cost; AVIC openly markets it as an F-35 alternative (Pakistan a likely first export customer). The key uncertainty is propulsion: WS-19 serial maturity and supercruise capability are UNVERIFIED. Its real advantage is stealth plus affordability; its weakness is immaturity and lack of combat experience.
